The Amer fort which is also known as the Amber fort is Amer’s main claim to fame. Amer was originally founded by Meena Raja Alan Singh but later Raja Man Singh conquered the place. It was during the rule of Raja Man Singh that this famous palace was constructed. The picturesque landscape with a lake in front of the town provides a wonderful view to the travellers. The Fort remains open all day of the week from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. An entry fee of 10 rs. from Indians and 50 rs. from the foreigners is taken. However, for photography and videography you have to pay extra charges.

Amer is a part of Jaipur tradition and royalty. The Amber fort has its own alluring attractions. Jaipur is well-connected with other major cities of the country by flights. Regular flights operate from different parts of the country. Once you get down at the airport, hire a cab, taxi or take a bus to the main city. You can directly go to Amer or you can go via Jaipur. Jaipur is also well-connected to other state and major cities through the means of Indian Railways. You can also board the famous and luxurious train, Palace on Wheels that starts from Delhi and connects all the major destinations of Rajasthan. After you reach Amer, it is better that you hire a guide. You can go by foot or go on the top of the hill by the elephant ride. By walking it will take 15-20 mins the Amber fort.
