WBJEE 2018 is an entrance exam conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB). The WBJEE board was established in 1962 mainly to conduct common entrance exam for UG level engineering courses in West Bengal. And the common entrance exams are conducted to provide the admissions to the students in the various courses offered in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities and Other Government colleges in West Bengal. The candidates are offered various opportunities to seek admissions in different UG (undergraduate) and PG (Post graduate) level courses in West Bengal by registering themselves in WBJEE 2018.

There is no residentiary certificate of WB required by the candidates while appearing in the exam and also the WB domicile candidates will be given choice for the admission in the Government colleges. The application form will be filled online only there is no offline method of registration. The candidates who are willing to take admissions in engineering/technology, Architecture and Pharmacy are eligible to apply for the entrance exam. Earlier, West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination was conducted for the candidates who are seeking admissions in Medical and Dental courses. But, after the introduction of NEET, and when the maximum colleges started considering NEET scores to offer admissions in Medical and dental programs. As per the given on the official website the WBJEE 2018 application form will begin from 19 December, 2017 till 19 January, 2018. And the exam will be held on 22 April, 2018.

The exam will be held through offline mode only. And the exam is a multiple choice question and contains 155 questions of 200 marks. Question paper will include three subjects: Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. Candidates have to use blue/ black ball point pen for darkening the appropriate circle completely and carefully in their OMR sheet. For each wrong answer 25% marks will be deducted in category – I and II but there is no negative marking in Category – III.

The eligibility criterion for the exam WBJEE 2018 is divided into three parts:

  • Citizenship: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • Age: The candidates must be of 17 years as on 31st December, 2018. There is no upper age limit to apply for the exam. The candidates who are born on or after 1st January 2002 are not eligible to apply for the exam.
  • Qualification Details: The qualification criteria for various offered courses engineering and Pharmacy courses is different. For engineering courses the candidates must have passed 10+2 examination from a recognized board. The candidates must have Biology/Biotechnology/Chemistry/ Computer Science/Computer Application as there compulsory subjects. And the minimum marks for the candidates to be scored must be 45% for the general category and 40% in all reserved categories in the above stated subjects. Passed as well as the candidates who are going to appear for their 12th exam can apply for the exam.
  • For the Pharmacy courses the eligibility criteria is different from the Engineering courses. For securing admissions in Pharmacy courses the candidates must have qualified 10+2 examination from a recognized board. And the candidates must have qualified the above examination with Physics & Chemistry along with one of the subjects Biology/ Biotechnology/ Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Computer Application as their main subjects. And the minimum marks for the candidates to be scored must be 45% for the general category and 40% in all reserved categories in the above stated subjects. Passed as well as the candidates who are going to appear for their 12th exam can apply for the exam.
