With a few simple steps, you can work towards improving it and creating the best environment for studying. Read on and find out more!

Pick a study place

You need to designate a certain space to be your study space. This will trick your brain into thinking that when you are there, the study mode is on. Pick a calm spot, where you feel comfortable. It can be a quiet corner of your home, your room, the attic, a small closet, or wherever you can find calmness. You should remove all the distractions from here such as books, magazines, laptop and phone. Only keep the things that you will really need.

Avoid too much comfort

When you are studying in your own home, then the comfortable feeling can be the reason for a lack of motivation. You should feel comfortable, but not too much. Try to avoid studying in your bed, or studying in laying position. If you do this, you will lose the focus and will eventually fall asleep. Always sit upright, so this way you will feel more alert. This means that you should get a good desk and a chair that will provide you this. The perfect desk would allow you to rest the elbows on it, while you have your feet flat on the ground. Finding a comfortable and supportive chair that fits the desk size is also important. You should be able to sit in a proper posture, with a proper support for your back.

Proper lighting

Natural light is always the best choice, so be sure to get the most of it. However, this is not always possible. When you have to rely on artificial lighting, then you should do it in the right way. You should have two sources of lighting: ambiance lighting ( this is the overall lighting in a room) and direct lighting ( a lamp). Use a desk lamp, which focus is on the work space. The light must not shine directly into your eyes. The lamp should be placed on chin level, so it will efficiently light your textbooks and be out of sight.

Keep it organized

Once you have designated your study area, you should bring all the things that you need here. This will make the process easier, as you will not have to stand up and look around for that thing that you need. Keep your notebooks, textbooks, pencils, markers, and sticky notes handy. Also, find a way to keep them organized. You can use cute storage boxes for that.

Use scents

When you have already done all the things, there are a few scientifically proven ways to help you. Scents are known to have an impact to our thinking and behavior. Some scents, such as: peppermint, lemon, rosemary and cinnamon are known for keeping you alert and boosting your productivity.  You can keep scented candles next to you, or even potpourri.
